Super narrow bar spacing is 1.1cm, although this is does increase to around 1.8cm at the corner joins and at the top. It is great for the majority of small animals including Rats, Ferrets and Chinchillas.
Little Friends
I was originally wishing to buy the 3 level cage, as this was unavailable I purchase the 5 level. Firstly the downside, there aren’t any build instructions, however my 9 yr old and I figured it out from looking at the picture of the cage. The cage corners are slightly wider than the other bars, this said we have young rats and they can’t squeeze through, so no complaints re this. I’ve had to use a little clip provided on the bottom of the metal cage door as I was concerned that they may be able to squeeze through. Overall I’m happy with this cage and would recommend, it’s more smartly designed than other cages I viewed, with the added bonus of wheels. Another bonus which the site doesn’t state is that you can make the cage, a one level , 3 level or 5 level. I’ve kept mine at 3 level as they are young and will add the other levels are they grow. The one level option will be handy if we need to take them away with us to transport.
My rats are enjoying this cage, however I did have a few issues. There was some minor damage on arrival and one tier/shelf missing but this has since been resolved satisfactorily with the company. The roof also arrived misshapen and required some bending to make it fit the cage. The bar spacing is also larger than advertised in the corners and under the bottom door, more like 1.8cm, however we have not lost any of our boys yet. Overall a good cage for the price and the rats are very impressed.
